Illegal movie is independent film brilliance for 2010. There are so many spectacular independent films out today, it would be a travesty for so many film lovers to not know of ILLEGAL. If you want something different then the typical Hollywood fodder, then please read on.

Illegal is directed by Olivier Masset-Depasse and stars Anne Coessens, Esse Lawson and Christelle Cornil. The movie is 1 hour 35 minutes in length and it was produced in Belgium, France, Luxembourg. Illegal is distributed by Haut et Court. The marketing for this movie is simple and wonderfully breathtaking.

Illegal is a movie about a 39 year old named Tania. She is a Russian female who moved to Belgium 8 years ago with her 13 year old boy named Ivan. Unfortunately, neither Tania or Ivan have identification papers, which keeps them dangerously hiding under cover.

Their lives take a turn for the worst when immigration police capture Tania and her son Ivan barely gets away. Tania is now going to face hell in prison because she is an undocumented migrant. Tania stays in a detention center separated from her son, but not losing hope that she will see him again.

One person online said the following, “this movie is great, how can we accept the imprisonment of innocent people waiting for a piece of paper granting them the sole right to asylum?” This movie will take you inside the mind of a woman who dreams of her homeland. Illegal is touching, thought-provoking and confirms what so many have known has been going on for over 20 years. Olivier Masset-Depasse did a fine job with this film and it comes highly recommended.
